Focus and Scope

Journal of Applied Health Research and Development is a journal developed to disseminate and discuss scientific literature and research by lecturers in the fields of Physiotherapy, Midwifery and Medical Records & Health Information.

This journal is intended as a medium of communication between health service research stakeholders, such as researchers, educators, students, practitioners of the Health Office, Health Office, Community Health Centers, and the general public who have an interest in this research.

This journal seeks to meet the growing need to study health services in the fields of Physiotherapy, Midwifery and Medical Records & Health Information.

JOAHRD publishes excellent articles reporting original research and development findings that broaden the understanding of a very wide range of healthcare; secondary scientific data analysis, policy analysis, review of the latest topics in the field of health services present in the areas of:

Peer Review Process

Every article that goes to the editorial staff will be selected through Initial Review processes by Editorial Board. Then, the articles will be sent to the Mitra Bebestari/ peer reviewer and will go to the next selection by Blind Review Process. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors to revise. These processes take a month for a maximum time. In each manuscript, the peer reviewer will be rated from the substantial and technical aspects.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Manuscript processing time in joahrd

Title. The title should be short, clear, and informative, but does not exceed 20 words. It has to be pinpoint with the issues discussed. The article title does not contain any uncommon abbreviations. The main ideas should be written first and followed by its explanations.
Author’s names and institutions. The author's names should be accompanied by the author's institutions, institutions address, and email addresses, without any academic titles and job title.
Abstract. Abstracts is written in a single paragraph of about 250 words maximum. For research articles, abstracts should give a pertinent overview of the work. We strongly encourage authors to use the following style of structured abstracts, but without headings: (1) Background: Place the question addressed in a broad context and highlight the purpose of the study; (2) Purpose of the Study: Identify the purpose and objective of the study; (3) Methods: Describe briefly the main methods or theoretical framework applied; (4) Results: Summarise the article's main findings; and (5) Conclusions: Indicate the main conclusions or interpretations.
Keywords. List three to five pertinent keywords specific to the article; yet reasonably common within the subject discipline; use lower case except for names
Introduction. The introduction should briefly place the study in a broad context and highlight why it is important. It should define the purpose of the work and its significance. The current state of the research field should be reviewed carefully, and key publications cited. Please highlight controversial and diverging hypotheses when necessary. Finally, briefly mention the main aim of the work and highlight the principal conclusions. As far as possible, please keep the introduction comprehensible to scientists outside your particular field of research. References should be cited as (Kamba, 2018) or (Marchlewska et al., 2019) or (Cichocka, 2016; Hidayat & Khalika, 2019; Ikhwan, 2019; Madjid, 2002) or (Miller & Josephs, 2009, p. 12) or Rakhmat (1989). See the end of the document for further details on references. Technical terms should be defined. Symbols, abbreviations, and acronyms should be defined the first time they are used. All tables and figures should be cited in numerical order. The research method should be included in the Introduction. The method contains an explanation of the research approach, subjects of the study, the conduct of the research procedure, the use of materials and instruments, data collection, and analysis techniques.
Results. The results obtained from the research have to be supported by sufficient data. The research results and the discovery must be the answers, or the research hypothesis stated previously in the introduction part.

Discussion: The discussion is highlighted through the title and subtitles of the section when needed
Authors should discuss the results and how they can be interpreted from the perspective of previous studies and of the working hypotheses. The findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context possible. Future research directions may also be highlighted. The following components should be covered in the discussion: How do your results relate to the original question or objectives outlined in the Introduction section (what/how)? Do you provide interpretation scientifically for each of your results or findings presented (why)? Are your results consistent with what other investigators have reported (what else)? Or are there any differences?
Conclusions. The conclusion should answer the objectives of the research and research discoveries. The concluding remark should not contain only the repetition of the results and discussions or abstract. You should also suggest future research and point out those that are underway.
Acknowledgments. In this section, you can acknowledge any support given, which is not covered by the author's contribution or funding sections. This may include administrative and technical support, or donations in kind (e.g., materials used for experiments).
Conflicts of Interest. Declare conflicts of interest or state “The authors declare no conflict of interest.” Authors must identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of reported research results.
References. The literature listed in the References contains only the sources referenced or included in the article. We recommend preparing the references with a bibliography software package, such as Mendeley, EndNote, Reference Manager or Zotero to avoid typing mistakes and duplicated references. Referral sources should provide 80% of journal articles, proceedings, or research results from the last five years. Writing techniques bibliography, using the system cites APA (American Psychological Association) Style and the 6th edition.

The JOAHRD Journal Publication Ethics Code (Journal of Applied Health Research and Development) refers to the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The publication ethics code consists of: A) Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers; B) Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor; C) Duties and Responsibilities of Bestari Partners; and D) Duties and Responsibilities of the Author. Here are the details:

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Manager

 

  1. Determine the name of the journal, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary;
  2. Determine the membership of the editorial board;
  3. Defines the relationship between publishers, editors, publishers and other parties in a contract;
  4. Respect matters of a confidential nature, both for contributing researchers, authors/authors, editors, and publisher partners;
  5. Implementing norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright;
  6. Review journal policies and convey them to authors, editorial board, review partners, and readers;
  7. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and review partners;
  8. Publish journals regularly;
  9. Guarantee the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication;
  10. Building cooperation and marketing networks;

Editorial Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Meeting the needs of readers and authors/writers;

  4. Prioritize freedom of opinion objectively;
  5. Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record;
  6. Deliver corrections, clarifications, withdrawals and apologies when necessary;
  7. Responsible for the style and format of the written work, while the content and all statements in the written work are the responsibility of the author/author;
  8. Actively solicit the opinions of authors, readers, bestary partners, and editorial board members to improve the quality of publications;
  9. Encourage an assessment of the journal if there are findings;
  10. Support initiatives to reduce research and publication errors by asking authors to attach an Ethical Clearance form that has been approved by the Ethical Clearance Commission;
  11. Support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics;
  12. Examining the effect of publication policies on the attitudes of authors/authors and bestari partners and improving them to increase responsibility and minimize errors;
  13. Have an open mind to new opinions or other people's views that may conflict with personal opinions;
  14. Do not maintain your own opinion, that of the author or a third party which could result in a non-objective decision;
  15. Encourage authors/authors to improve their written work until it is suitable for publication.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Bestari Partners

 

  1. Receive an assignment from the editor to review written work and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the suitability of a written work for publication;
  2. Reviewers may not carry out reviews of written works that involve themselves, either directly or indirectly;
  3. Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input and recommendations;
  4. Encourage authors/writers to make improvements to written works;
  5. Review written work that has been corrected according to predetermined standards;
  6. Author Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Ensure that those included in the list of authors/authors meet the criteria as authors/writers;

  4. Explain the limitations in the research;
  5. Respond to comments made by bestari partners in a professional and timely manner;
  6. Inform the editor if he will withdraw his written work;

Duties of Editors

  1. Based on the review report of the editorial review board, the editor can accept, reject, or request modifications to the manuscript.
  2. Editors should be responsible for every articles published in Journal Of Applied Health Research And Development(joahrd)
  3. The editors may communicate with other editors or reviewers in making the final decision.
  4. An editor has to evaluate the manuscript objectively for publication, judging each on its quality without looking to nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors. He/she should decline his/her assignment when there is a potential of conflict of interest.
  5. Editors need to ensure the document sent to the reviewer does not contain the information of the author, vice versa.

  7. Editors should respect requests from authors that an individual should not review the submission, if these are well-reasoned and practicable.

  1. Reviewers need to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct.
  2. Reviewers will do the work in timely manner and should notify editor if they can not complete the work.
  3. Reviewers need to keep the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  4. Reviewers should not accept to review the manuscripts in which there is potential conflict of interest between them and any of the authors.
